The Holiday Season is upon us. I have seen Christmas decorations on houses since mid-October. The storefronts on Main are beginning to celebrate as well. Our family friendly Christmas on Main celebration will be here before we know it. The musical entertainment is lined up; applications are coming in for both vendors and parade entries. Activities will begin around 3 with the Parade of Lights starting at 5:30. Santa will be on the stage for the young at heart after the parade and Smore’s fixings will be available at the Chamber booth.
As promised, the Highway 120 Adventure is now being promoted on Facebook. Here you will find pictures from all of the communities featured: Manteca, Escalon, Oakdale, Chinese Camp, Groveland, Lee Vining and Benton. The webpage is not far behind. We’ll post more information after a meeting in December. It has already been reported that we are getting visitors checking our downtown merchants.
Be checking your email for a survey on your Chamber needs. Our membership drive is ready to go. Merchants will be receiving a trifold with Chamber activities as well as the 2014 application with a personal visit from the Miss Escalon Court or other Chamber members. We look forward to an exciting year full of activities and educational events. Already scheduled is our first Sunday in the Park of the year – April 13th with an egg roll. The Wine Stroll is scheduled for April 25th. We have three coffees scheduled to begin January. It is time to get on the calendar for your coffee or mixer. We have a coordinator to make sure we are promoting two or three business a month on the webpage as well. It is going to be a very productive year.
Lorina Cajias has consented to take on the job of Vice President. We are sad to report that longtime secretary Maggie Martinez has resigned, so we are in search of someone to take her place. We have closed the Chamber office as of 11/15. Thank you to Extra Space Storage for sharing an office with us. We still have our nook space at 1830 Main Street where you can pick up applications and flyers for our activities.
