Recently I have been thinking about the question sometimes asked of myself and other Board members, “Why should I join the Chamber? What’s in it for me?” I am often stumped in how to answer this question. For me it is pretty simple to answer. I get to work with other business people in promoting our town and get to experience fund raising with extraordinary folk. Over the last couple of years we have raised money to begin a scholarship fund which will be presented to you or someone in your business returning to further their education later this year. We our part of a multi-county cooperative to promote vising communities along Highway 120 which is already bringing travelers to shop in town. Are there other things that can be done, of course there are and with additional members, the possibilities are endless.
Membership is definitely affordable and becoming part of a growing Chamber will bring you and your business additional exposure. Networking with other Escalon business will increase your sphere of influence and your income.
The Chamber is celebrating the inauguration of our new and improved website and all that comes with it. We are offering our merchants a larger presence on social media through our Facebook postings and featured business of the month as well as links to members and an updated events calendar. Our newsletter will share business tips, introductions of new businesses in town, event coverage, featured entrepreneurs and so much more. It's a very exciting time of growth for the Chamber and we hope more and more will continue to grow right along with us!
April brings with it the start of Sundays in the Park April 13th. That Sunday’s theme is Spring has Sprung and will feature Easter egg coloring, an Easter bonnet contest and especially for the kids, Magic with Plants. Be sure to watch this space for monthly themes and dates. Vendor space is also available each of the Sundays.
The Annual Wine Stroll will be April 25th featuring wine tasting, food samples, music and so much more. We have a disco theme and will feature our treasure chest and a new fun opportunity with a wine theme. Cost for the adult’s only event is $25 early purchase and $30 at the door. Prepare to enjoy yourself at this annual Chamber fund raiser. We also look forward to the Chalk Art Contest as part of Park Fete and especially Christmas on Main. Mixers, Coffees and Ribbon Cuttings will be added to the calendar as planned.
As always, Think Escalon First.
