It is difficult to believe how quickly 2016 flew by. We added new merchants to our list which is always a plus and have completed 11 Community centered events which is cause for celebration. We are small, but mighty. Incase you missed one of these events, be watching in 2017 for Tea and Trumpets, Wine Stroll, Park Fete Kids Corral, 3 Sundays in the Park, Farm to Fork Dinner, Citywide Yard Sale spaces, Candidates Forum Lighting of the Hospice Tree of Lights and finally Christmas on Main. We will also be giving a scholarship for students graduating from Escalon High in the music or the art programs.
It has become obvious that even in our small town that there are predators who wish us harm. Please be on the look out for those emails or phone calls promising wonderful things if only we follow the instructions. Especially vulnerable are our seniors. Recently I was told I had “won” a trip to the Bahamas, and then there is the guy telling us he can fix our computer if we just give him the information. Let’s make a pledge to one another that we will be on the lookout for strangers in our neighborhood or someone going door to door selling. A huge thanks to our Police Department who works to keep us safe. We are also thankful to Public Works for the night lighting in Main Street Park keeping that area a place where drug dealers are no longer invisible.
Please join us for our Annual meeting on January 10th. We will be dedicating our Board for the 2017-2019 term. David McIntosh will be taking on the role of Vice President with the rest of the Board staying in current positions. Light refreshments will be served. Lorina Caijas will be continuing her efforts for the Chamber as a partner in our community events.
Save the date of January 25th from 5 - 7 PM for the Ribbon Cutting for Escalon Fit!
As Always...THINK ESCALON FIRST!
