Looking forward to the New Year

It always amazes me how much faster the year goes by the older I get.  The year 2018 was no exception. It seems like we went from planning one event to the next.  Well, actually we did.

It takes at least 2 months lead time to organize our teams and plan to bring activities to fruition.  We are extremely grateful to local merchants who sponsor and participate in Tea and Trumpets, for High School scholarships in Art and Music, The Wine and Spirits Stroll and Christmas on Main.  We are often asked where the money goes from these events, so here is a breakdown.  10% of the profit from each event, 100% of Tea and Trumpets goes in to our Scholarships for the high school or for the Continuing Education Scholarship for local merchants, see website for details.  The rest is divided between the event budget and the general fund.

Coming in the New Year will be a Survey asking for your input in what educational or other activities you would like to see the Chamber sponsor.  Last year we held two educational workshops, the first on finance, insurance and taxes for small business owners and one on what is the best social media for your business.  We would like to continue providing these workshops and would appreciate your input on what will serve your need the best.

Also in January, the Chamber will be sponsoring a Poker Run with local Chamber members participating.  Details will be found in The Escalon Times, on Facebook and on our website.  If you are interested in participating please contact the Chamber website message area.  The Winner of the best hand will win a basket of goodies representing Shop Local.

Please be on the lookout for your membership renewal, which will be emailed to you mid December.  We want to remind you that the more businesses involved; the more the Chamber can do to share our Think Escalon First motto.
