Hi, My name is Steph Ennis. I’m the new Ambassador for the Escalon Chamber of Commerce. You will see me out and about in Escalon talking to businesses regarding joining the Chamber. Also I would like to know what can the Chamber do to help the businesses in Escalon. The Chamber works collectively to serve the needs of our members and the community by uniting businesses. This is not an easy task but I am so proud at the progress I have seen by the Chamber so far.

Why did I join the Chamber? My Family has been in Escalon over 80 years. I moved back to Escalon 6 years ago. I’m the daughter of David and Rosalie Ennis. I wanted to do something for the town I love. In September 2017, my friend and I went to the City Council regarding getting a Farmers Market started back in Escalon. The Council suggested we talk with the Chamber. I honestly had no idea what the Chamber did. In the past 6 months I have seen a group of people working together to help Escalon. You may not always see what the Chamber does but I can say they are a great group of people who have the interests of Escalon at heart. They not only put on events for Escalon but provide scholarships for students to further their education. They put together events such as Christmas on Main Street, Hospice Tree Lightening, Sundays in the Park, Escalon Wine and Spirits Stroll, City Council Candidate Forum and help with Park Fete. They have Ribbon Cuttings for their members with new businesses. They do all these things out of their love for Escalon. They volunteer their time and sometimes supplies.

Additionally the Chamber will be holding quarterly workshops for the businesses of Escalon. These workshops are for all business owners including small home based businesses. I attended our first workshop. It was on financial plan, taxes and insurance. It was very informative. The 3 gentleman who put it on gave us some great information. A quote I took from it was “You don't know what you don't know until it is often to late.” This is so true. The next workshop will be on Social Media. It will be held in May. The Chamber will post once we get a date. The Chamber would like to know what subjects people are interested in having at the workshops. Please feel free to leave me a message on here or private message me at steph.ennisavon@yahoo.com

Thank you for taking the time to read this first edition of Chamber Corner. I will periodically post events and information from the Chamber. I honestly have to say being the Ambassador for the Chamber is not an easy task. So please bear with me. I can’t fix things on my own but I can listen and hear what you are thinking. I’m always open to suggestions. Think Escalon FIRST is the Chamber’s slogan. I firmly believe it. I am working on getting a Farmers Market here in Escalon. It will take time and help from others. I didn’t realize the policies that need to be followed. I also would like to beautify downtown. It won’t happen over night.

The Chamber meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at the Escalon Library at 530pm. Anyone is welcomed. The Chamber would love to hear what the people of Escalon have to say. We love having new members. Please watch your email and mailboxes for renewal notices. The money the Chamber collects goes towards events, scholarships and administrative costs. So please join the Chamber and Think Escalon FIRST.

Thank you Steph Ennis, Ambassador for the Escalon Chamber of Commerce.
