Finally a change in the weather and winter activities are on the horizon.  As I wander the town, I see lots of Halloween decorations in store windows and on front porches.  Sunday in the Park on October 13th will give the community an opportunity to participate in Halloween activities.  Four separate contests are in the works for pumpkin carving and decorating and a homemade costume contest as well.  Once again there is also an opportunity for local vendors to participate at no cost.  The November Sunday in the Park will be 10th with a theme of giving.  Heck, Theresa, Linda and Robert have devoted time and energy into making these events happen.

The first Christmas on Main meeting was held with lots of enthusiasm by the committee.  After having to cancel last year’s event due to the storm we even have an alternative day if we need to move the event.  Scheduled date is December 14th starting around three.  Applications for vendors, parade entries, and sponsorships are available at Oak Valley Community Bank, at the City website and at the Chamber Website.  Our Grand Marshall is Marvin Schmidt from Escalon Lumber.

Be on the lookout for information on the Highway 120 adventure as the Press releases are ready to go to print.  We look forward to many travelers coming to visit our area.  Even without the Adventure up and running, we hear reports of travelers, national as well as international, stopping to rest along the way.  Barbecues will be available by the beginning of November to add to the attraction of stopping in the Park.

A special thanks to the volunteers who have formed the committees to create our events.  It is time to put Chamber renewal into your budget for 2014.  Anyone renewing now will be current through December 2014.

As always, Think Escalon First
