Bring on the Holiday Season!

Here it is, the end of November with lots of activity coming our way.  There is so much hoopla about wondrous sales on television and on the internet that could send any of us into shopping overload.  I want to encourage you to take one day or hopefully more to explore, support and purchase from the merchants here in Escalon.  You can find something for everyone on your list right here in town and you will not have to fight traffic and chaos.  We all love our small city atmosphere, and it is most important to show the merchants we care.

Lots of activity in the works for the Chamber in December.  The community tree will be decorated on 11/30 by the Miss Escalon Court and those of us who enjoy the fun.  This year we will be working at Christmas in Grandpa’s Barn, 17693 Enterprise Road on Saturday 12/6 sharing the Santa experience with kids of all ages.  Be sure to have a picture taking device handy.  Our traditional Christmas on Main starts at 3:00 on 12/13 with vendor booths and musical entertainment.  The Parade of Lights begins at 5:30 and culminates with the arrival of Santa Claus.  The makings of s'mores will be available after the parade to cook in the fire pits which will keep us warm from the afternoon into the evening.  Everyone tells us that this event is one of their favorite events of the whole year.  Take this opportunity to explore the downtown merchants.

On January 13, 2015 we will be holding an election of officers during the Annual meeting at the Escalon Library staring at 5:30.  Now is the time to renew your membership which can be done easily on the website.  If you haven’t been a member for a while, this is the perfect time to get involved.  We encourage all new business in town to join as well.  Costs are minimal and getting to know your fellow merchants is a win win for everyone .   One of our goals for 2015 is to start hosting workshops that benefit small business.  Creating a support group for the direct sellers in town is also a goal for this year.  Coming in the Fall is a Farm to Fork event with details to come.  New ideas are always welcome to bring more opportunity to the community.

As alway,
