Negativity vs. Positivity: We Choose Which Pond to Swim In

I have been told I am passionate about our town and merchant community.  You bet I am!  Is the place we live in perfect, by all means no.  Do we have things that we need to improve?  The answer of course is yes!  The Escalon Chamber of Commerce is not huge, but it contains a group of highly talented volunteer folks who also are passionate about Escalon and work together making things happen. I beg to differ with the negativity I have recently read on Facebook.  There are so many things to be proud of here.

In this missive I would like to focus on one of the good.  The Escalon Branch Library is perhaps one of the best and least utilized treasures in town.  I urge you to like their facebook page and check out their website.  All ages can find an activity to meet a desire for something new.  The Community Room can be booked by non-profit groups and organizations. Here are a few of what is offered in our library:

  • "Friends of the Escalon Library" Booksale
Come pick up a collection of books and magazines from the Friends of the Library book sale, prices starting as low as $0.25. The booksale is open the same hours as the library.

  • Preschool Storytime - Thursdays at 10:30 am
Bring your child for stories, movement, and crafts. All ages are welcome.

  • Makerspace - Thursdays at 4:00p.m
Kids and Teens are invited to explore and create with crafts, circuits, robots, computer programs, a 3D printer, and more!

  • Science Saturday -  the first Saturday of every month
Science Saturday is set to engage children young and old in science through hands on experiments, performers, guest visitors, and more! Check the Events Calendar for what is coming next.

A Poker Merchant Run begins the week of of May 5th with your first playing card being found in your “goodie” bag at Sunday in the Park.  Five Chamber member’s storefronts will be offering playing cards to their visitors/shoppers in order to create the best hand.  Rules will be posted on the website.  Please visit these local stores and take a look around and support because as always the Chamber encourages you to THINK ESCALON FIRST.
